ABOUT

Brett Casper’s photography illuminates the synchronicity of experience and representation. Producing images that are multi-faceted realizations of his immediate experience, photography is a device for him. The camera allows both the creator and viewer to fully engage in each moment’s spontaneity.

One sees a relationship between his work and Surrealism - especially with Andre Breton’s concept “compulsive beauty” in L’amour Fou. “Compulsive beauty” is an image makers power to make an image that explodes beyond perceived reality. Brett’s images develop this concept in contemporary context, fusing both the surreal and real, perceived and experienced into images that powerfully render the potentiality of the situation
